Are you interested in volunteering overseas?

Restless Development is youth-led development agency which is offering young people in Sunderland the opportunity to volunteer overseas as part of a government initiative, the International Citizen Service.

Introduction to the volunteering scheme

It will offer young people aged 18–22, the opportunity to develop their skills by working with dedicated staff and national volunteers to help address the problems faced by young people in Africa and Asia.  There is also a number of placements available for those aged 23+, looking for leadership roles.

What will you do?

Individuals will undertake a range of activities aimed at tackling problems faced by young people such as poverty, HIV/Aids and unemployment.

Why should you take part?

It’s a unique opportunity to learn new skills whilst making a difference to people’s lives.  It will help you develop self-esteem and confidence and also you will learn about a different country, development issues, their culture and way of living.

What will it cost?

Depending upon household income, you will be either offered a fully subsidised placement, or be asked to make a contribution to your placement.
