Many young people use the internet and other electronic devices almost every day - so staying safe while you are online is very important. But... it's not just on the internet where you need to take care. Text messages, emails and mobile phones with cameras can be used for 'cyber bullying' or for unwanted attention. Please read on to find out more...
Staying safe online The internet has many uses and is a great place to be. You can use it to do your homework, send emails, talk to friends, meet new people, share photos and much more. Remember the saying "don't talk to strangers?". You might think this does not apply online as the person you are talking to cannot see you, but if you cannot see them either how do you know who they are? They might say they are the same age as you but they might not be.
- Don't give out your telephone number
The internet is there to be enjoyed. It is a great place to talk to friends and meet new people, but always think before you give out any information.

Note: You can click on the "Report Abuse" button to see what sort of things you can report (so you know for future reference) without actually making a report.
The CEOP 'ThinkuKnow' educational programme is a valuable resource to help young people stay safe. You can visit this great site at www.thinkuknow.co.uk.
