Volunteering with Adults with Learning Difficulties

Have you ever thought about volunteering your time to support adults with learning disabilities to  take part in events and join in leisure activities?

The Community Links Service is run by Gateshead Council. Without the help of volunteers, adults with learning disabilities would miss out on a lot of opportunities.

How can I help?

Whether it's visiting the cinema or sharing a hobby or interest you'll be taking the first step together to making a difference. Volunteers offer their support on a one to one basis or in small groups. There are lots of ways you can get involved. Below are  some of the activities you may participate in:

  • Using computers and IT
  • Craft sessions
  • Cookery
  • Gardening
  • Table games like dominoes
  • Health walks
  • Going out and about in the community
  • Drop in groups

Some volunteers just come along to have a chat and help out with refreshments.
