Flu Bug Test

Are you between 15 and 25 years of age?

If you are and you have chest problems including asthma, you are at an increased risk of developing flu.

It's not just the older generation who are at risk so Gateshead Primary Care Trust are targeting young people who are at risk of developing flu

If you think you are in the 'at risk' category, then make at appointment to see your GP for further advice on how to be vaccinated.

Four things you should know about flu

  • Only half of ' at risk' young people in Gateshead and South Tyneside received a flu vaccine last year
  • The flu virus may go on to cause more serious bacterial chest infections
  • In one cough or sneeze about 100,000 virus particles are ejected into the air
  • If you are within one metre of a cougher or sneezer, you are at risk of contracting flu

If you have any health issue that you are concerned about then please visit your GP.
