The Tall Ships Association Youth Branch is looking for young people who they will help sponsor to go sailing on the Tall Ships.

In a world that can be excluding and challenging, sailing as part of a Tall Ships crew could be a life changing experience.

Below are just a few of the benefits of taking part:-

  • Acquire new skills, knowledge, understanding
  • Make use of information and resources
  • Increase self awareness and self confidence
  • Be able to make choices and influence
  • Be able to discuss and debate
  • Take responsibility for self and others
  • Form positive relationships with others
  • Learn to solve problems and communicate ideas
  • Evaluate your achievements

And what's more.... it will be fun!

How to apply to take part

If you would like to go on a voyage you need to fill in a local branch application form. You need to say how much money you could pay your self, how much you think you could fund raise and what sort of contribution you would like from the branch. You would then be assigned a "mentor" who would help with fundraising ideas, check progress and provide help and support.

Groups are welcome

The organisers would also like to get small groups of young people from similar organisations/areas together to do some joint fundraising as this is always easier if there is a team of people involved.

Money should not be a barrier

The important thing is that money should not be a barrier to a young person participating in a voyage. All we ask is that anyone who wants to take part is enthusiastic and prepared. We like people to try and raise some of the funds themselves - as this gives them a greater sense of achievement/ownership of the voyage and also enhances their CV's/personal development.
