UCAS is the central organisation that processes applications for full-time undergraduate courses at UK universities and colleges. The UCAS website can provide information about applications and the clearing process. Visit www.ucas.com.
www.gapyear.com is running its annual advice and ‘gap year clearing’ service. Every year thousands of young people who have planned gap years, or now face an unplanned gap year, panic into trying to get organised around results day. Many ring around, only to find that most of the placements have gone. Don't leave it too late. Visit www.gapyear.com for help and information.
www.gapyear.com/clearing is a live database run by gapyear.com on behalf of the UK gap year industry. Now in its third year, the site shows only the opportunities that are available THIS YEAR - to save everyone time and worry. Young people can sign up to weekly email updates, talk live to advisers and those who have been through the process and browse results day advice and ideas.
Each year the department for children, schools and families in conjunction with the BBC radio results service is providing a helpline called ‘One Life’. This offers free independent and confidential advice to school and college-leavers. Advisers will be able to give up to date information on course availability and clearing. You can ring the helpline in August each year. The number and more details will be posted here nearer the time.
