National Minimum Wage
The National Minimum Wage is a legal right which covers almost all workers above compulsory school leaving age. It generally increases every year on 1st October. The rates from 1st October 2011 are:
| Ages 16 and 17 | £3.68 per hour |
| Ages 18-20 | £4.98 per hour |
| Aged 21 and over | £6.08 per hour |
The National Minimum Wage for apprentices is £2.60 per hour.
