This event has already taken place

An exciting new venture is being launched in Newcastle.

It's called Participatory Budgeting, but the simple name for this is ' U decide'.

The idea is to give local people the power to spend some public money to benefit their local communities. This means they can share some of the responsibility for what happens where they live and make some real changes

How will it work?

There will be four steps for the local communities or groups involved.

Step one...

U decide what you most want the U decide money to do

Step two...

U come up with ideas for projects that will make that happen

Step three...

U hear about all the suggested projects at a special event and decide which ones should get the money

Step four...

U benefit from the winning projects when they are put into action
