Prince's Trust Development Programme

Bored? Out of work? Have nothing to do? Unsure what direction to follow? Fancy an exciting challenge?, here is your answer, The Prince's Trust 12 week Personal Development Team Programme at Tyne Metropolitan College is here to help you and offer you an exciting opportunity.

The Prince's Trust are currently recruiting for the next 12 week team programme which commences on Monday 25th September 2006.

The Personal Development Programme

The 12 Week programme is a personal development programme for 16-25 year olds who may be unemployed, not sure what career path they want to take, are wanting a change in life or just want to meet new people and have a good time. The course is broken down into several units:

Week 1 - Getting to know each other, Team Building Activities
Week 2 - Team Building Residential (Canoeing, Climbing, Walking etc)
Week 3 - Planning, Food Hygiene & Drug Awareness Courses
Week 4 - Planning for project
Weeks 5 & 6 - Community Project
Week 7 & 8 - Work Placement
Week 9 - Next Steps Training Week
Weeks 10 & 11 - Final Team Challenge & Fundraising
Week 12 - Final Team Presentation

Within the programme are 'Activity days' providing the team with the opportunity to choose their own activity for example, Community Fire Day, Orienteering or Climbing.

Prince's Trust team members will be in a team of up to 18 young people, all working together to improve their team building, problem solving skills and confidence whilst having great fun.

Qualifications achieved:

  • City & Guilds Personal team work & community skill award
  • Wider Key Skills - Problem Solving, Working with Others, improving on your own learning and performance
  • ASDAN Certificate
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Drug Awareness Certificate

People claiming Job Seekers Allowance or any benefits will not lose out on their benefits, you will still be able to do the course and collect benefits. If you are 19 or under you could be eligible to claim EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) which is £30 a week.
