Connexions Sunderland worked in partnership with the Pennywell Youth Project and Sunderland Volunteer Bureau to promote volunteering activities both in the Sunderland and Tyne and Wear area.

The Share your spare time event ran from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm at the Connexions Centre in Fawcett Street, Sunderland.

A number of people came to the event to find out about different aspects of volunteering including:-

• volunteering with children
• volunteering in hospitals
• working with animals
• volunteering as a part time job

We would like to thank the following organisations who helped during the day or provided information to help people gain an insight into the role of volunteers.

• Sunderland Volunteer Bureau
• Prince's Trust
• Millennium Volunteers

Numerous other organisations provided literature and information, and we appreciate all of the assistance we received.

Everyone who attended the event had the chance to enter a prize draw to win one of three prizes.

The prize winners were:-

Sophie Smith - £50 in shopping vouchers
Natalie Watt - £25 in HMV vouchers
Chris Giles - £15 in HMV vouchers
