Sunderland has some great news about Diploma's!

Sunderland is one of only six Local Authorities in the country that will deliver all 14 diploma subjects for young people aged 14 -19 from September 2010.

As a result of a successful bid to the Governments Gateway 3 Diploma initiative, Sunderland has been approved by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to add new Diploma subjects to its portfolio of 10 Diplomas already delivered by the Sunderland 14-19 Partnership.

    The four new diplomas will be in:

• Sport and Active Leisure
• Travel and Tourism
• Retail Business
• Public Services.

The choice of 14 Diplomas gives young people in Sunderland new options alongside other qualifications like GCSEs, A Levels and apprenticeships, and will help students to progress towards skilled jobs, further education and university.
